Well I've been here since Saturday now, so 5 days in total. I'm really starting to settle in and enjoy it. I teach in the morning and get back just in time for lunch and some free time in the afternoon. Although so far I have spent my afternoons drawing, YES DRAWING, Caroline you would be proud ;) I had my first lesson yesterday, which was with P1 (about age 6) I was teaching numbering and sequencing with was fun although their english is very basic so I needed the help of a teacher to translate to the local language Lugandan sometimes. Today I was in the nursery class teaching parts of the Human body, they were so sweet. We even sang heads shoulders knees and toes, so much fun! I also ended up doing a load of marking for the older students... fractions and decimals (that got my brain going) its so hard when you can hardly read it and they have got it wrong, i have so much respect for teachers now! The school itself is not really a school as we would describe it, its very poor, there are several huts where classes take place all on a mud floor which means my feet stay clean for about a second while im there. The teachers are enthusiastic though and seem to be happy to have me there. I'm on spelling tomorrow with P2 which should be exciting!
Apart from the teaching, i've managed to see a couple of football matches, germany v austria and france v italy (oh dear Jerome) and visit a few bars and restaurants. The country is beautiful so i'm getting some good photos and ive already see lots of strange wildlife.
Anyway, I'm off to the travel agents now to enquire about some sort of safari for the weekend.
All my love kelly x x
