My God, how wonderful is Dubrovnik! I had no idea... I've often heard that's it's a beautiful part of the world and don't know what I was expecting, but it surpassed everything and clearly was the most spectacular port of call and visit of the cruise. This area is 1000's of years old and to protect itself against foreign invaders the city is surround by a man made wall around the old part of the city, which remains to this day. It is truly an ancient city in a modern world. The best I can describe it is, Venice without the canals. Lots of ancient walkways and historical buildings and monuments. Given that this area was also decimated by war only 10 years ago, thank goodness the Croatians who stayed in their country had the foresight to rebuild this area and clearly continue to love it to bits as the "jewel" of Europe that it is. Coming back one day, to spend more time here, is definitely a plan!
