Thursday 31 January
This morning we woke up and it was raining. Typical that it has to rain on a day where we have something planned. We had to catch the 8:30 train (which was from Central Station opposite luckily) and then catch a bus to the zoo.
When we arrived at the Zoo the sun came out. :)
We walked around the aligators, otters, birds, lizzards etc and then we got to the koalas.
Walking through, we got to stroke one that was sat in the tree :) I didn't expect them to feel the way they did. They felt warm and almost wooly. That's my opinion anyway. It was one of the highlights of my morning.
We carried on, walking through 'Roo Heaven'. Actually seeing a kangaroo hopping up close made me giggle. They just looked so funny!
We headed to the elephants as it was feeding time. Chel, Al and I all got to feed them and we had our photos taken. When feeding them we had to keep our hands out and flat and the elephant wrap their trunk around your hand. It felt so strange but it was so cool to feed an elephant.
We walked around some more of the animals, including wombats, wallabies, crocodiles, tortoise etc and after having a bite to eat, we caught the crocodile show. It was amazing to see the crocodile under water - they make no ripples, that's why they are so dangerous! They even got the crocodile to jump up out of the water for some food and you could hear it's jaw popping. It was so loud!!
Afterwards we caught the tiger show. It was very impressive. They got them to do a few tricks, which we recorded. The height at which they could jump and how fast they could get up a tree, it was unreal!
Chel and I decided that we wanted to have a photo of us holding a koala, so we went there just before 2pm. The man had a huge boa constrictor snake out, which we stroked, but didn't hold. And there we waited for the koala.
We got a photo of us both holding the koala (India). She was lovely and cuddly and i wanted to take her home! She was quite heavy though and clung on to you with her claws. But still, i loved the fact that i had just held a koala bear :) Highlight of the day!!
We took a short walk, while waiting for our photos, to the 'África' part of the zoo. Here they had all of the zebas, rhinos, giraffes etc. They even had a stone there which made it look like Pride Rock (from The Lion King, for any of you that didn't know).
We then picked up our photos and headed for the 5:30 bus.
I really enjoyed the day at the zoo, Its the best zoo that i have ever been to and i think it would be pretty hard to beat. The only thing that i regret', is not having enough time to feed the kangaroos. I was gutted about that! :(
Once we got back, we freshened up and went for our second free meal and drink at the Down Under bar. Afterwards we picked up our free welcome drink that we hadn't received the night before, although this time it was a jar cocktail and wasn't so nice.
We stayed here until 1am. During that time Al and I had entered Chel into the 'Gangnam Style' dance competition. Sorry Chel!! (You did it though and i have it recorded ;) ha). We had a fun night, but there seemed to be even more weirdos out. What is it with weirdos and this place?
The next morning we were catching the bus to Noosa. So at 1am i called it a night and hit the sack.
