Last night was interesting, we kept waking up all throughout the night, i'm guessing due to the time difference and jet lag we all had. Also we had a couple arguing outside of our room at 3am and everyone in the common room just seemed to be awake and LOUD!
We were up early and intrigued to see what our "free breakfast" included.
We found out that we needed to get a box of plates, cups and cutlery from reception (which wasn't open until 8am, so we had to wait). We eventually got our box, which smelt like old, smelly socks - gross!!) and then we headed into the Kitchen/Common room to have some breakfast. There was choice of cereal, toast, eggs etc and tea/coffee.
After breakfast we decided as it was overcast AGAIN, that we would go and see some of Sydney. We found a map and started to head towards the Opera House and Bridge.
On our route, we took a little stroll through Hyde Park and saw the Tower.
We then came across St. Mary's Cathedral, and Al decided to have a look inside. We all had a little look inside Chel and I lit a candle and then we all decided to venture on.
We came across the Sydney hospital, with a statue of a boar outside. It said that if you dropped a coin in and rubbed his nose you would have good luck and the money went to the hospital. Chel and I, being us, decided to do this - we are too cool!!
We carried on and came across the Botanical Gardens. We all decided we would like to take a walk through. We came across some beautiful flowers, plants and buildings while walking through and it was really peaceful and tranquil with breath-taking landscapes. :) We stopped at the little cafe and had a refreshing ice-cream - ahh how nice it is to be ladies on leisure!! Ha.
We carried on our walk to the Opera House and Bridge. We took some photos and had a walk around! There were some really nice cafe's and shops around the harbour. I even brought some UGG boots! (I know, even across the other side of the world i'm still shopping!!)
We decided then to walk to Darling Harbour, and the sun decided to come out! YAY :) We stopped and had a little sunbathe. I decided to dip my feet in the little pools around there (i'd have really liked to swim in there, but i didnt have my bikini on, plus only children were actually swimming in them) and then we walked over to the harbour and saw the huge duck! How cool!? :)
We decided as it was so hot, to start walking back and buy some suncream on our way. The walk back took forever as we ended up going a different way and ended up down the very busy George St (the equivalent to London's Oxford street i would say).
After what felt like we had walked our legs off we got back to the hostel and freshened up. Then we for some bizzare reason decided it would be a good idea to treck back to the Opera House/Bridge that evening to have some food. We did just that but afterwards we wished that we hadn't walked all that way and it was a long walk home. Poor legs!!!
