Well, New Delhi, I think this is the third time I've flown into New Delhi. Mad Mad Mad, nothing else describes it .... this time wasnt as daunting as the first time, and even though I got in after midnight all was good. I think I was the last man standing at the baggage carousel. My little back pack came out limping, looking all weather beaten and the thought of having been raped and pillaged came to my mind. I thought my back pack would start to look a little lived in my the end of the Delhi/Kathmandu tour, but nope, its looking like I've borrowed it as opposed to it being new .. Thank god for that ...didnt want to look like a travelling virgin for too long.
Stayed in at Karol Bagh, not too sure why Ive dont this to myself, I really am a 4+ star type of girl and knowing that Delhi's star ratings (all self imposed I think) tend to be a little ... hmmm... how do I put this .... generous...... the place I stayed is the starting hotel for the Intrepid trip .... I think after last time I would have learnt my lesson. Damp, dirty, not windows that open so no air ... yep... but I did have hot water which is a blessing !...
Did a few touristy things in the days before the tour started, went to a few places I missed last time and did some shopping as well. Bought another carpet (who could resist - they are so gorgeous) ... got some jewellery .. lapis, gorgeous... and a few little dresses to send to Mikayla and Des's little girl Mia... all ' n all a good few days.
So met my fellow travellers who all seem really nice. Bente and Niels from Denmark, Bronia and Jenny from the UK, Holly from the UK, Amy from Canada and the gorgeous Jazz who just happens to be from Melbourne.
We only did one day on tour in Delhi, it was the stuff I did before so nothing new.. its off to Agra the next day... should be fun !
