Round the world in 150 days
From the Grey Skyline of London and Stansted Airport to Beautiful, clear skies and warm climate of Biarritz. Train to St Jean pied de port. I'm surprised at how much French i remember and how much i can understand and feel quite intellectual that i can ask the bus driver for a one way ticket to Bayonne train station. Haha.
The 1 hour train trip to St Jean pied de Port is SPECTACULAR. The countryside of France is exactly as i imagined and even better. Everything seems to have its place. It's like every French citizen has an obligation to make everything within the vicinity of their town (and sometimes further) aesthetically pleasing. Everything down to the 2 by 5 mtr pile of logs and the way the trees are places is planned for its aesthetics. St Jean is a beautiful old town with cobbled stone roads and i go and have a glass of red wine at a restaurant looking over a small river just near a bridge that has terracotta flower boxes all the way along it and ivy and moss partly covering the uneven stones. I go to the supermarket and buy some olives and a baguette and some pate and ham and dark lindt chocolate with cherries and almonds (yum). Meet crazy French house keeper of the Albergue called Janine.
