We have had the maddest 4 days of our lives!!! Kenya is amazing but everything is so different and evryday we seem to find something new to experience.
Highlights so far have been flying kenya airways, in a very dubious plane that held 30 people...a part of our seat fell off during take off which is always reassuring!!!
We went to visit the school we will be working at and more than being a highligh it was so scary...they are all cleverer than us!!!! we watched the girls games session which involved a giant game of duck duck goose with about 100 people in which one fat girl kept getting picked on because she couldn't run!!
The place we are staying is really cool, we have a bedroom, miniture kitchen with calagas and a sitting room. it is all very basic and washing involves standing in a dark concrete cubicle outside with a bucket of cold water! We are living in a house full of women, there is a girl called linda there who is twenty and is trying to teach us swahili!!! and failing because we are so rubbish. Food is another issue, those of you who know us well know how hard it must be for us to pretend to like beans everyday...and tea....the worst yet has been cornfalked with boiled hot milk....we were nearly sick
We are the only white people where we are staying so we get a lot of people starring but most people are really friendly and come and shake our hands and say karibu!!! welcome.
we did take some photos of jenny squatting over the toilet and sarah wrapped up in our 2 (double protection) mosquito nets, but the computers are so slow that we will do them when we come next!
That is a little round up for the moment....it is so hard to explain everything because it is just soooo different but we are both loving it....although not looking forward to monday when we start teaching.
miss you all
love
jen and sarah
