So yeterday was our only full day in Singapore (Leavin for Australia today...WOO!). We managed to get ourselves up early and headed to Sentosa, Singapores Island resort, for a day of fun.
Sentosa is a man-made island which has an underwater world, Dolphin Lagoon, Animal kingdom, Man-made beach etc (no rides tho ) We paid a set price and were able to see the underwater world and dolphin show and generally just walked around (the man made beach wasn't much good to us considering it was pouring it down all day (it was still hot tho so don't get all smug!).
The underwater world was good, we were able to touch some of the fish and underwater creatures in a touch pool, we were also able to stroke the sting-rays, as well as see an assortment of the usually subjects ie sharks, turtles, general sea life.
Later we saw the dolphin show...which was amazing (not because the show itself was that impressive, it was really quite average- even tho it was with PINK dolphins!!), but Jess was picked out of the audience to play with the dolphins and to stroke them. It was quite emotional as she has never touched a dolphin before and she was really happy!
That evening we decided to have dinner in china town and then go to Raffles Hotel for a Singapore Sling (which is apparently a must-do if you come to Singapore). But by the time we left the hostel it was nearing 11 (we accidentally all fell asleep!). So had to eat at one of the only Chineses which was open (the food was quite suspect!!!) and then rush to Raffles as it stopped serving at 12.30.
We didn't really have any idea where we were going either but we managed to find it at 12.15 with two aussie boys in tow who we'd picked up on the way, they had been their earlier in the day not that that meant they had any idea where it was!!!!).
So we had our Singapore Slings in the very posh Raffles hotel, they were delicious (but at 21 dollars each they needed to be!!). It was very cool being in the bar as they let u throw your peanut shells on the floor. Which may not sound like much but it is a small way to rebel when you think that Singapore has strong fines attatched to their no littering laws!
Then we just headed home for bed, all dreaming of Australia...or worrying about it considering one of the aussie boys had told us that if anyone tells u to go to Kings cross in Sydney to run the other way...GREAT!! Thats where our hostel is!!!
