So i will start back where i left off which i believe is just about to go home (ie skanky bungalow in the middle of no where with no running water!!) to prepare for the full moon party.. which basically involves putting on a new dress (very pretty..turquoise, halterneck and short, i bought it off the market for about 3 pounds...bargain!), my new money belt, which is real leather and greyish blue (to remove the temptation to put my bag in random places and leave it...not that i eva do that!), some make up (which will end up all round my face within an hour of being there considiering it was still chuckig it down at this point!!) and collecting together the girls, the boys (Simon, Bob and stuart who r some guys from Aberdeen who were also staying in our skankpit..i mean hostel) a pack of cards...and a BIG bottle of vodka (what?! There's 7 of us...we need a big bottle!!)
So after the compulsary game of 'ring of fire' we climbed the small mountain which leads from our hostel to the road (NOT FUN!!! Luckily we managed to make the owner taker our bags up 4 us on his motobike when we left!! There was no way we were gonna climb that with our bags!!!!). Once up we managed to flag down a songtao, which is like a truck, and we all clamoured into the back of it.
The fullmoon party itself was a lot of fun..we danced and chatted and generally partyed until the sum came up (we only managed to 6...im sorry lyds i know we were a lot more hardcore...i'm letting the side town.. none of us fell asleep in the sand tho....). Then we all went for brekkie and then home.
The rest of our time in Koh Phangnan pretty much consisted of going out and sitting on the beach so not a great deal more to report there.
We left early on the 9th to catch a bus and ferry to Koh Tao (which is where i did my paddy diving course last year) and spent a couple of days there (well really only one full day).
On our full day we took a boat to Nang Yuan Island, which is litterally paradise!! It consists of 3 small islands which r joined by white sand dunes. The sea is cystal clear and the snorkelling was excellent! Unfortunately the day was tainted as an old chinese lady died pretty much infront of us. She drowned and it seemed as she was snorkelling and wearing a life jacket hence on her front, no one notised for a long time that she was not breathing. Altho she was given resusitation for 15 minutes while i was there and the girl (littlerally no doctors jus a random english girl on the beach was trying to save her life) was still doing it when a speed boat (eventually!) came to take her to mainland, it seems unlikly that she made it.
It is very sad to think that things like that can even happen in paradise and really puts your life in perspective when u think how quickly and easily it can be taken away!!
But i'm not ging to get heavy with u..in fact i'll tell u about our very long journey to Malaysia..
So we left our hostel after lunch in a rickshaw which was to take us to the ferry. The ferry was about 3 hours, then we had a bus that took us to the train station, where we had to wait around for 5 hours for our sleeper train. The sleeper train was amazing!!!! It was like bunkbeds at the sides, with curtains closing them off (u will have to look at the pics to see what i mean). And i actually slept quite well on it until they woke us up at 6am because we were at the border and had to get off to show our passports, and by the time we got back on they had changed our beds into chairs...meanies!!
That was a 16 hour journey..after that we had another 2 hour bus, a half hour taxi and we finally arrived at our destination!!
They say Cenang beach is like phuket..very touristy and vibrant...they lie!!
It lacked one important element for it to be like that...people!
But it did have a beautiful beach (altho we had to avoid the water as i saw 3 jelly fish within minutes!) and we did had a pretty nice time there..altho we didn't really do much as they was not a great deal to do.
Next we are moving on to Kuala Lumpur...which i am really excited about as i am looking forward to being in a big city again and doing a bit of site seeing!
