Day Six
Down for breakfast. Not feeling on top form today. I could only eat the fruit which was making me feel pretty awful. Today we visited Batu Caves just outside the city. Batu Caves is made up of a system of enormous caves in which many Hindu's practice their faith. Inside the caves you can see many magnificent temples and holy relics. It is out of this world. When Roisin, Rob and I arrived at the caves it was astonishing. Without any exaggeration there are over 200 steps to tackle before you even see the cave! At the foot of these steps stands by far the biggest statue I have ever seem in my life. If was a huge golden Hindu relic. As we ascended the steps we noticed quite a few monkeys roaming up ahead. Although cute and furry they can be viscous and unpredictable so we treaded carefully. With labored breathing and flushed cheeks we reached the top and saw the first sight of the cave opening. As we entered the cave we noticed a stand with newspaper clippings. Every year around Jan or Feb a Hinu festival is held here which attracts millions of people. The Hindu's perform rituals to celebrate their faith. This is an awe-inspiring place which I really would recommend to anyone visiting KL.
Back to Berjaya Times Square for a spot of shopping and then back to the hostel. From here we went a great little cafe called Wings which played live music. The act that was playing was a Malaysian man and woman who were both fantastic singers. The service was great and the food was a reasonable price. I would really recommend to visit here if you want a relaxing, friendly atmosphere with mix of Western and Malaysian music.
Well till next time!
