Had a rather horrific night on the overnight train- 13 hours in total, longer than the bloody flight, with jsut a rubbish fan and lights that stayed on all night. luckily managed to get soem sleep with the aid of a sleep mask and regina spektor onb the old ipod but woke up many times with faye as we were both on the top bunks. was so relieved to get off at surat thani even thought it was 7 oclock in the morning- almost getting used to the early morning starts.
although we were pissed off about having to start the tour early i dont mind as much now as we;re in khao sok which is absolutely beautiful- our accomodation is little huts in the forest, but with decent beds and toilets. the people on our tour are cool as well- 2 girls the same age as us, a 26 year old lady and an american couple who are in their late 60s but are awesome- theyve been to so mabny places and only starting backpackign in their 40s. took 2 hrs to get to our accommodatiion from surat thani by songthaew, a sort of pick up truck with open back- was terrified bags were gonna fall out.
after all the travelling we were knackered and hungry, so went to a little local place for food and me and karly braved some local cuisine- pad thai, basically just stir fried noodles which were yummy, but which faye tried and promptly spat out. after lunch floated down the river on dingys (called tubing) nearly crashed into floating debris many times and on the way back fed some monkeys right up close- the big ones kept stealing food off the little ones which we didnt like. as soon as we got back started raining which we couldnt believe, luckily got back just in time. still hearing thunder though :S going back to see monkeys again tomorroww so we can take our cameras. but first thing tomorrow is the elephant trek which im mega excited about :)
going to go have dinner and maybe get some drinks in for group bonding
