maaan im getting so bad at keeping this blog updated and so is faye, so we are sitting in hervey bay writing this joint one. and there's lots to catch up on...
last blog was just before we got our bus. but we missed our bus. absolute panic set in, as well as anger seeing the bus drive past us (re: we are not retards, the driver told us the wrong pick up point). so after a lot of flapping went to a transit centre to get a greyhound bus, to be told there werent any more and we'd have to go somewhere else. so got a taxi to the other place, waited for a few hours and got a greyhound. luckily oz experience reimbursed us for it but for a while we were so worried we'd have to stay in townsville another night (which is a dump haha)
we arrived in airlie beach and after our long s***ty day decided to go out; went to a place called beaches with really good live music then to a club called mama africas. we drank our way through the depression felt after having such bad luck but ended up going home quite early and had our first fight over the correct way home was hilarious. well not at the time but afterwards.
spent a day jsut chilling at the lagoon at airlie beach before joining our whitsundays cruise. our boat was called the pride of airlie;' it was normal size but crammed with about 70 people, essentially a party boat. we got on and straight away everyone was cracking out the beer and the goon. the whitsundays were amazing but our group on the boat was pretty s***; they were all already in like friendship groups and spent most evenings getting drunk in their rooms alone. but we made our own fun (ha) and the days on the boat were so good we went snorkelling and rashly made the decision not to hire stinger suits. we thought we would be fine but turns out box jellyfish can actually kill you and even though stinger season is over the possibility is still there. so we didnt spend too much time in the water.
after airlie beach we ensured we caught our bus this time and headed to kroombit which is middle of nowhere and stayed the night at a cattle station. alightly dismayed at first to find our room was basically a stable. but made friends with these lovely london girls, had a few bottles of 'gigglejuice' and did typical cow boy things like learn how to crack a whip and limbo competition (not so cowboy) which faye won :) had a go on the mechanical bull but i didnt last one buck and was too embarrassed for another go. see facebook for fayes attempt ha she did pretty good. had to get up sooo early for a goat rodeo, where we had to catch, flip and fake brand a goat, and mustering goats on horseback which was awesome. had a long trip to hervey bay and now are waiting to head out to fraser island- slightly more excited for it now. was so worried about dying but we've got a good group and the guy whose gonna drive seems pretty safe but guess we'll jsut have to wait and see!!
