once again have been crap at writing blog. however was stuck on fraser island for 3 days so thats partly why i havent updated. due to laziness and lack of internet credit am just gonna basically copy fayes...
had to get up mega early to set up for fraser- got up at half 6 and didnt set off til like 9ish cos it took so long to pack up the vans and go throguh health and safety and shiz. first place we went when we got there was lake mackenzie which was beautiful but it was rainign n i didnt bring my towel with me so i paddled but didnt wanna get soaked and stay damp. then we were worried about the tide tiems and stuff, as you've gotta drive along the beach and if the tide's in, you cant. despite our worryign still managed to get it completely wrong, so just had to set up camp where we were on the beach. set up all our tents and started our barbeque. it wasnt long before we were all shouting at this guy in our group, mike (nutter), as he threw some bread into the bush which straight away attracted some wild dingoes. but it was so much fun camping right near the beach even if going to the toilet was effort and we decided to make a campfire which is actually not allowed on fraser island but we wandered off and found a dead tree and ripped it to shreds to build a campfire on the beach. the sunset was amazing. despite our efforts the early morning and lots of goon made us so tired so we went to bed pretty early, and typically as soon as we went to bed the van next to us started blasting music. somehow managed to sleep through it and still woke up pretty earlyish to drive up the beach to the meheno shipwreck. tried to find our way to lake wabby and found ourselves on an inland "scenic route" which was absolutely mental i thought our car was going to go over so many times and our 4x4s were in convoy and we kept looking behind us to see the others were stuck. it was so funny though. when we finally got to lake wabby it was like a 25 minute walk, barefoot through jungle i was pretty scared. lake wabby was awesome though, when you get to the top theres just sand dunes and you feel liek your in the desert.
after lake wabby we walked back to our camp which was not so inland this time, so less protected from the wind. we sat round our bunsen burner fake campfires and toasted marshmallows and fended off more wild dingoes. this time when we went to bed there was a storm and our tent leaked and karly got soaked so we all had to shuffle round in the night then when we woke up in the morning the boys tent had caved in but they were still in there sleeping im not sure they even realised. and as we were packing up the rain started again and everything got soaked and covered in sand and it was a disaster. so we drove back to lake mckenzie and once again was raining so once again i sat out. but i was the one laughing later as everyone who went in couldnt get dry again and was complaining about how cold they were. got back from fraser and were knackered, had to unpack the vans and clean them out but luckily nothing was wrong with them so got our $60 dollars back.
So...we went onto brisbane. didnt have high expectations as everyone had said to us there's not a lot to do there but we were pleasantly suprised. as lame as it is, we're city girls at heart and was nice to be in a big city again...first time ive seen a starbucks in a while. didnt do a hell of a lot when we were there, just went shopping and found supre, our downfall, which is like american aparrel and h&m mixed together, and pretty cheap. also me and faye got a new edition each...a nose piercing. hope people dont go mad about it as ive wanted it for ages and finally took the plunge. faye went first and was all "nah it doesnt hurt" then i went and my eyes were watering sooo much cos it did hurt. quite a lot. but its been pretty good now hopefully wont have any problems with it.
Brisbane was really nice as we were with our friends maddie, kate and becky so had an alright night out at the hostel bar, had a few drinks, fended off a few slimy men. then it was onto byron bay. unfortunately we had to skip out surfers paradise and now im rather gutted, as jsut saw maddie and co again, who stopped there and said its been the best night out theyve had. we've been in byron for 3 days now and really liek the vibe here BUT there was so much hype about it that we're all a bit gutted. everyone goes on about how amazing cheeky monkeys is. but it really isnt that good, had fun our first night but foolishly decided on a whim to go again last night and it was a bit crappy, playing such random music we were confused. btu it was still a fun night as we had been playing cards and stuff with the people next door, then came back and watched i am legend til half two. and today we have completely wasted, stayed in bed til 12, made cheese on toast and stumbled to the beach. still loving it but looking forward to sydney (thoguh not the weather) and cannot wait for the US now :)
