Woke to a screaming Sean this morning. Poor little b***** has a cold and obviously a typical man with it & therefore lets everyone know he is not feeling well in his own 'charming' way.Had a lovely cold meat and bread lunch with John & Jennifer whilst Sean slept off the effects of the cold & flu remedy he so willingly took... in fact he kept insisting he wanted more.Got to the airport one hour before my flight with Kulula - scheduled at 3pm. Firstly the queue was enormous and there were only 4 check-in staff. By 2.25 I began to panic thinking I would never make this flight, but they called us forward to one of the hand-luggage-only queues. This was still slow going & I was 2nd in the queue. I did not think much of the staff at all - the girl who served me was particularly unfriendly & sarcastic. Said my good-byes to John, Jennifer & a slightly subdued Sean and raced through. It was only upon reaching the other side, that I realised the flight was delayed until 3.45 - probably really meaning 4pm instead. I sat on one of the usual uncomfortable seats and had a family - mother, daughter & her FIVE kiddies sitting opposite to me. I have to say the baby was just awful... fighting with the other kids, demanding her own way all the time and in general being bad. Kids like this are exactly the reason why I never want them. I was desperate so put my headphones on and listened to Queen until it was time to board. On the plane, I passed said lady with her awful child and felt relief that they were no sitting near to me. I found my seat next to a young Indian couple and relaxed... no children behind or in front of me... an hour of quiet bliss. However this was not to last. Within minutes of me relaxing, one of the awful, unfriendly, sarcastic staff wondered over to ask whether she could move the Indian couple as there was a baby on the 'wrong side of the plane'. I felt cold dread in the pit of my stomach and just new it was going to be awful said lady and her even more awful child.... Yes!!! It was & my heart sank! No nice easy flight was in store. Now I know its only an hour flight, but sitting next to the 'wrong' person could make this seem like a 4 hour flight. Said lady & child were ever more ghastly than in airport, but I guess with good reason as I found out from the young girl that had moved with them, they were all supposed to be on the 11am flight and had been at the airport since 9am! Still thats really no excuse for such a badly behaved child & seemingly uninterested mother (perhaps she should not have had quite so many children!).My folks picked me up and it was lovely to see them again. I have not seen them since June 2006 when I flew over for my mothers 60th birthday. Mom looks much the same - short & chubby, but very healthy. Dad is looking older, but then he is 77 now. He still appears to be very fit and is still walking in the evenings around the area where they live. Their house has not changed and I disappear into 'my room' to put bags down and pull out items bought for Mom (M&S trousers, pontefract cakes, toblerone & Terrys chocolate oranges). Nothing for Dad as he is not a sweet tooth like Mom and most clothes are lost on him. I did bring him my old Samsung mobile phone which I had unlocked for him... however Mom's beady little eyes spied it and she has now claimed it as hers. Poor downtrodden Dad!
