So you remember the Grab a granny nights too eh? Good fun!
The frame /cradle that was built for the ship to sit on during transportation is gone. I watched a video in the museum about the shifting of the rip and the video showed some sort of a cradle that was built. The ship now sits on a steel cradle which sits on pillars concreted into the ground so you can easily walk under the ship as if it were in a dry dock.
The plough is at Ardrossan eh? I did find the area where the Thevenard plough was and I found an empty concrete pad where I think the Thevenard plough was. Maybe there are two ploughs?

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the updates on your blog. I am enjoying the read especially since I have been to many of the ports mentioned in the same way as you. I certainly remember all of the Whyalla pubs and recall seeing the 'RIP' still in the water prior to being dragged up to the road. Is the ship's frame come monument still near by? The stump jump plough... I will venture to say that the monument you remember but couldn't find is actually at Ardrossan. There is certainly one their, between the wharf and the township, in the park by the sea.

Hi Lyn,
Good. Hope I'm no waffling too much. I should probably put more pictures and less dribble up. However, talks cheap and you know how I like a bargain! (I am, of course, refering to the upload cost). Cheers!

Hey Bob,
Sounds like a good road trip. Well spotted with the wheels! That's an older photo and now I've got the white rims and BF Goodrich all terrains wrapped around them.

Howdy Simon,
Just got back from a roadtrip ourselves. Noosa to Sydney with plenty of stops in between. Eleven days in all. Thanks for the blog, it makes for interesting reading. Regarding the 'Camper' pics. Exactly what wheels are you riding on now? White ones or chrome ones.
Cheers

Hi Lyn,
Well I'm glad SOMEONE has read it!There's no official camping near the 12 Apostles but there's plenty of lookout carparks you could park in (for 12 hours!). Some of the caravan parks in the little towns are right near the beach tho and are good spots. When you get the Winnabago you can find out for yourself!Hope you enjoy the piccys.
