Im now in Christchurt NZ! I cant believe it! OZ went soo fast! From the one day ive spent here it seems like a fantastic place...but Ill update you with that once i have told you about my last few days in OZ!
I guess i need to start with my whitsundays trip...which seems like forever ago! The whitsundays was good, not as amazing as i thought it would be tbh. The sailing was the best part, it was great fun. It was an 81ft racing yatch call the british defender if any one wants to check it out. It has done an number of races around the world. We got up to around 25 nots kealed right over so the other side of the boat was in the water. Just wow! Makes me wanna do some more sailing on big racing yatch when i get back!
White haven beach wasnt all that tbh as the cyclone had just gone through there around a week ago. It didnt look like it did in the pictures you see on google images. They said it will take around 6 months for it to go back to the way it was. The sand was pure white and apprently very good for cleaning your metal up. We spent the whole afternoon on the beach where we played a big game if rounders with random irish rules comming in all the time. Was great fun tho. I was on the boat for 2 days 2 nights. If i had to choose between doing the whitsundays and faser island i would choose fraser island as that was just pure amazing!
I left airlie beach on good friday which wasnt the best move as everything was shut and townsvillie didnt really have much to do.
The next stop was mission beach where most people do a skydive. i stayed at absolutle backpackers which is a new place and one of the nicest back packers ive stayed at. I didnt get to see much of mission beach as it rained alot! It rained so much that the little stream that went through the hostel ober flowed and when i had to get back to my room which was on the other side of the "little stream" I had to wade throgh it half way up my ankles! By the time i got back to my room i was socking wet just like i had a shower! It was the end of teh rainy season but that didnt mean it was cold, no no! Back in england when it rains after a humis day it get cold again, in oz it just stays warm as ever and just that sweaty humid warm which isnt nice! I didnt do much there, except for meeting back up with alex.
We left mission on monday afetrnoon which was nice as it wasnt an early pickup. On the way to Cairns we stopped at a crocodie farm. It was great fun, as you proberly saw from the pictures on facebook. Yes mum the crocodile that i was holding was real! We left the croc farm headed up to our final stop of Cairns, we checked into quite possibly the nicest hostel ever Gilligans which we got for a discounted rate of $5 off each night which made alot of difference. When we got there it was still raining and it was still raining the next day too. Being british rain didnt stop us, we put of rain coats on and headed into the city. You might of seem from the pictures of my flip flips of around 6 years broke...it was sad time having tryin to fix it with super glue and then plasters. I managed to get some havaianas which are soo confotable.
Eventually on Wednesday the sun came out and we could finaly use the pool in the hostel. It was just like the lagoons they have up the coast but right in the hostel. Most of the day was spent realxing and by the pool. It sound like im working too hard! lol.
Each evening you get a free meal which tbh cant really be called a meal but like a strated portion...but tbh you cant complain as it free!
Thursday was amaizng me and alex had booked a baria reef tour on anither sailing boat! We up up bright and early at 6:30 am to get to check in. The boat was a catamarans saing boat. It was a 25 meter sailing boat not sure of that size in ft. Here it is if you wanna check it out. http://www.passions.com.au/ . It was a great day, great food and great to see the reef. Tehy photo are on facebook of the reef and and me and alex in our very fecthing blue stinger suits!
They next morning I had to be up for at 10 for my final check out. This was going to be my longest day ever! Plus it was the hostest of 35 degrees! My flight was at 6 am on saturday morning so i didnt bother to get a room on friday night to save money. They day seemed to drag but i final made it to the plane at 6 am...as soon as i got in my seat i closed my eyes and fell asleep, not the best sleep as sitting on the end of the row wasnt very cofotable. I got into brisbane at 8 am. They say get to the airport 2 ours before tour flight...i was there 9 hours before my flight! I found some comfy seats and tryed to sleep as i new that would take up more time! Fianly the hours went past...seemed like an eternity!
I got to christchurt at around 11 pm. And then eventually got to my hostel at 1 am after having missed my stop on the bus which ment i saw a lot ore of christchurch that i needed too! The bus driver was very nice he took me back to teh stop which i should of got off!
I found my self to be staying in the penthouse in base which has a tv room kitchen and balcony all shared with 2 other dorms of 8 beds.
Yesterday I saw much of christchurch it was a stunning day...just like an english summers day. Peopel could proberly tell i was english as i was in my shorts and t shirt trying to get as much sun as possible! I wnet to a number of gallerys topping up on my culture and just got lost for a while which was nice!
Today is my final day before i get on the kiwi exspirence tour...cant wait! Peopel have said that the kiwi exsprience is better than the oz one which I thought might be quite impossible as the oz ex was very good!
I cant believe how far ive come! And i only have around 6 weeks left of my travels! It had been the most amzing time already! I hope every one has enjoyed reading my adventures and im sure there will be more to come.
I miss you all! Looking forward to comming home at the end of may.
Hope all is well back in the uk or where ever you may be.
