Arrived in Bangkok airport (BKK), what a difference 4 hours on a plane makes, I feel like I'm back in civilisation! The airport is really big and after a long queue at immigration we finally arrived! No taxi drivers hassling us, everyone queues up, customers and taxi drivers, it's all very organised! We got a taxi to our hotel which was just outside Bangkok centre, very nice, clean streets, clean hotel, friendly people. Room is nice, hot shower woo hoo!
The next day we checked out and got a nice clean tuk tuk to Khao San Road which is where all the English people go judging by the amount of tourists on the street! We found a cheap hotel right where all the action is. We had a little walk around, I think if i'd have come here from the U.K I would have thought it was really busy and noisy but coming from India this place is pretty chilled out ha ha!! There were loads of vendors selling fresh noodles and fish, meat, soup, fruit, juice, shakes e.t.c. for a really cheap price so I couldn't wait to try some 'cause it all looked amazing! Loads of stalls selling clothes, books, CD's, jewellery, ornaments e.t.c. line the streets as well as the bigger resteraunts and bars set a little further back. Only been here for one day but I really like Bangkok so far! It's weird not being the only white (European) people around and instead of us being stared at I'm finding myself staring at people instead! (at least I smile at them when I get busted though!) There's just so many different people around I'm not used to it, everyone seems really laid back and there's a mixture of all nationalities, and genders, didn't realise till I got to Bangkok that there was an actual third gender, katoeys, which I'm sure you've heard of, blokes who make very realistic women, it was all very surreal!!
A bit later on we went for a walk around and I fell in love, with banana pancakes! Got one of a vendor on the street, banana pancake with sweet milk and chocolate sauce, yum! Also had Pad Thai (traditional Thai dish of stir fried noodles with veg and chicken, beef, pork or shrimp) with chicken and egg and two meat skewers, oh yeah and a banana shake and some sliced watermelon, my stomach doesn't know what's going on, no it's not Heaven, it's Thailand!!
