I arrived in hong kong and went trough immigration which was a complete breath of fresh air after Thai immigration! Neat orderly queues in a very westernized airport. Still the same miserable people though, why don't these immigration people smile!!
Passing through I approached a desk where I asked about getting the A21 bus into Kowloon and she gave me a map of how to get to the bus station in the airport. Realizing I had no money I went to an ATM and was refused cash. Eeeek, what the f*** am I going to do?? I tried again and it have me some HK $ and I moved on.
Finding the station I got a ticket from the office for $33 and caught the next bus. It was nice, tho thankfully I had my gps city guide with me as they don't tell you where to get off and the electronic sign boards on the bus did not match up with where we were!! I trusted my technology and got off, thank god, because this was my stop! I walked up and down argyle street trying to find no83 and finally did after lots of crossing the road.
I took the lift up nine floors and was confronted by this big dirty courtyard thing in the middle of the building. These literally were all just converted flats and this is where I'm staying?
I walked in and checked in (after having to go back downstairs to take out more cash) and was shown to my room, right by the reception desk which was literally a broom cupboard. And she said I'd been upgraded to a room with my own toilet and shower (behind some foldable door). I was apprehensive, first night and I'm in this dingy place. had I made a mistake coming here?
I went downstairs and walked about for a while. It was about 11.30pm now and I was tired. I couldn't find anywhere to eat so I relied on a trusty McCafe and got something to take back with me. Shattered I went to bed watching big bang theory and promising I'd have a productive day tomorrow.
