Yep... I've been cruising around Sydney for a few days, enjoying my last moments in Australia...
I arrived in Sydney on Australia Day, and the city was filled with Australian flags (I think people were having "have many ways can you dress up in a flag"-day), happy faces and party-people. I went to the aquarium with a gril from my hostel and just chilled out. Because in the evening I had a big event coming up... The Opera!
That night I went to Sydney Opera House and saw "La Traviata" - a beautiful piece with fantastic songs, lovely scenery and amazing music! I felt like the most lucky girl in the world, and couldn't stop smiling - it was SO GOOD!
The rest of the evening was tame (you know how the nights you expect the most, always are dissapointing!), but I lived on the opera...
The next day I slept in... AHHHH :o) Then I walkied around the city, acted like a real turist... I went to the beautiful Botanic Gardens and saw bats and birds - yes, wildlife also exists in the cities!
On my way back to the hostel I popped into a random pub to have a beer, and there I met John and Shyne - two funny, talking, bartending aussies, who were bored at work, and enjoyed my company... One beer turned into five, and one hour turned into six... hehe... another good night just by buying a beer!
John took me to New Castle with a mate, and we hung out at the beach, the park and the friends restaurant... I love how you just meet people and get some unexpected experiences when you travel!
I ended my stay in Aussieland with a bridgeclimb on Sydney Harbour Birdge - FANTASTIC!!!!! Wlaking over the road where tousands off cars drive, is a weird but great feeling and we had a good chat at the top of the bridge.
Or, I actually ended my stay with John taking me outside town, to see Sydney from a different view - at night... We sat on a rocky beach and looked in at Sydney sleeping - with all her light on!
Yep... I've LOVED being here and don't fell like leaving. I've got new friends and contacts, new impressions, seen old friends and learned a lot about cultures and life... It's had it's up's and down's, but I can now look back and say "I've tried Australia"!
I'll be back some day, working, traveling etc. - can't wait!
Love from Signe.
