We wandered towards Capitol Hill and got stuck on the wrong side of Pennsylvania Avenue waiting for the practice inauguration parade to go past. There were armed forces lined in a guard of honour for miles and miles down the avenue and the police weren't letting anyone cross. We saw some armed force marching bands and rifle groups and some cheerleaders (I think)... We eventually managed to find an intersection where no-one was really caring if anyone crossed or not. We walked down the Mall and saw the World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and reflecting pool.
We had a look at the Washington Momument and then headed to the National Museum of Air and Space to admire all the rockets and planes. You could go inside some of them (glad I'm not an astronaut =P) and we saw an IMAX on fighter pilots.
We then went to the National Archives were we admired the Declaration of Independence (the original is so faded you can barely see whats on it), Constitution, Bill of Rights and some other important documents to do with the American Revolution. We also saw a 1297 (I think) Magna Carta that's on loan from England.
We then went to the National Museum of Natural History to see the Hope Diamond (I would really like one!) and we also looked through the fossil (including dinosaurs) and ocean sections. We then had some dinner at Union Station and went back to the hotel to sleep....
