We have a view of Niagara Falls from our hotel window! Ok, it's a bit blocked by trees and is only the American Falls but still...
We headed out about 10am to see the Falls. It was a short walk to the American Falls and we had some photos before heading towards the Horseshoe Falls. By the time we got to the building that you go through to do Journey Behind the Falls, we were absolutely soaked! It was quite windy so there was so much mist coming from the Falls that it felt like it was raining really heavily.
They open the Journey part in winter but you can't go down onto the lower observation deck and they enclose part of the deck above it. You still get an appreciation of the amount of water that plummets over the falls every day. It was like thunder. And there was so much ice!
We then headed to Skylon Tower, where you can go up in a cable car and view the Falls from the top. It was really pretty and gave a good idea as to what else was around in the area (you can see all the way to Toronto!) We headed back to Clifton Hill and visited the Coca Cola Shop but didn't buy anything...figured we can do that at the Wonderful World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta later...and then we played 18 holes of Glow in the Dark mini golf! It was so much fun! The pictures are almost like cartoons...and for the record, Siobhan beat Emma by 3 strokes with Tara a fair bit behind!
We headed back to the hotel for a few hours as Niagara is not exactly a hive of activity in the winter =PEvery second person we met there was Australian so there can't have been too many natives around! Around 7pm, we headed back to the Falls to see them lit up...unfortunately, they weren't as lit up as we would have liked...must have been all that mist! Silly us coming in winter! We then struggled to find somewhere open to eat dinner - even KFC and Pizza Hut were closed - but found somewhere eventually.
