Well this morning Liz and I said our farewells as I left early to catch the train to Montreal and she drove all the way back to Fredericton. After traveling together for over 3 weeks it was sad saying goodbye - we had such a good time.
I was able to check my luggage in for the train which was great and the train appeared to be fairly new. There was hardly anyone on my carriage and I had a lunchbox that my hotel had made up for me since I was missing breakfast. So I sat on the train with my breakfast, latte and wifi - what a great way to travel.
I arrived in Montreal just before lunch and got a taxi to the hotel - check in wasn't until 4 but my room was ready so I got to go straight up. It is very modern and very nice.
I had booked a 3 hour city tour so I did that from 1 to 4. The driver had to repeat everything in French but it was great being taken al over the city to get a perspective of where everything is. We had 1/2 hour to look at the Notre Dame Basilica which was amazing. We also went up Mount Royal to see the city from up high - it is very flat and goes for miles. I also enjoyed going past the beautiful big old houses.
I walked to Chinatown just near the hotel for dinner and had curry chicken and a lemon tea for less than $10. Great value there.
Today was quite warm after Quebec but apparently tomorrow will be really cold!
