This blog will cover two days - my last day in Paris and my arrival in Prague. Yesterday I had an evening train from Paris to Prague so I chose to spend the day in Marais where I had been staying and exploring the area to the east which I hadn't been to. I had a lovely time shopping in the little alleys and stopped for a delicious Nicoise salad. I left my apartment and took a taxi to Gare Le Est train station for the overnight train. I had booked a single sleeper compartment and was hoping to get a reasonable night's sleep but I found it too difficult with the train constantly lurching and cornering. By the time the train arrived in Munich (8am) I was tired but thought "ok just one more train now to Prague and maybe I'll doze off then" - once on the train I was told there were works being done on one of the tracks so we would all have to get off at a station called Strahndorf and get onto a bus for a 2 hour drive to another train station where we would resume the trip. Ugh. But it was ok - I kept falling asleep but struggled to stay awake as the countryside was so pretty and I wouldn't get to see Germany otherwise. Finally arrived in Prague and the apartment I'm in provides a complimentary driver from the station so it was great having someone there to take my bags and drive me straight to my accomodation. I hade received an email a few days ago that due to a 'technical issue' I was being upgraded to a room on a higher room with a balcony - ok!! The place is huge - I have a massive kitchen, coffee pod machine, walk in robes, washing machine etc - it's awesome. So once I checked in I met up with an old school friend who has been living here and we went for a walk and ended up having dinner in a great place right by the river where we watched the sunset and castle light up. I can't wait to get out tomorrow and look around but for now I'm really looking forward to a good night's sleep.
