Woke up early on the train after a really uncomfortable night. It turned out our driver was a trainee, which meant that throughout the night every time we arrived at the station the train lurched forward and we were thrown across our bunks.
Possibly because of the above, the train was running late, so I bought a pot noodle and sat chatting to Rich and Leah - learnt a lot about Chinese politics.
Finally got into Xi'an in the late afternoon and got a private bus to the hotel. After a quick shower we headed out on an orientation walk towards the bell and drum powers in the centre of the city. From there we walked to the Muslim Quarter, a lively Market containing all kinds of food, artwork and souvenirs.
After our group dinner I managed to win some kind of Chinese lottery and got a whole 5 yuan (the equivalent of 50p). Lucky me! I spent it at the market on a packet of Juju berries.
