Well here we are in Cambodia - Siem Reap! A sweet early flight of less than 2hrs from KL and we were first thru Immigration, collected bags and off (we prepared visa photos etc. before we flew)! Our Tuk-Tuk man from the Mandaly Inn Hotel collected us right on time and whisked us through the outskirts of town and off to the hotel - the warm, fresh air was lovely. After check-in we had a fried rice brunch and relaxed (slept - after all we got up at 02:50 in KL to fly!), late on sampling food at a local eatery (spring rolls) - we then visited the local market and bought a few minor necessities ( 4 shirts for me and a new wide brim hat for the temples!) and then back at The Mandalay Inn - lovely Khmer and Myanmar dishes. An early night then up 07:00 (today) for breakfast (fried rice!) and water then we walked to Angkor Wat ticket office - c. 5km - in 33 deg heat.. then the heavens opened and we were soaked (although I had just replaced Sheryl's faulty umbrella 10 mins before for $3..) We sought refuge beneath a palm and waited for it to subside then picked up a taxi (tuk-tuk) who rode us back to Siem Reap. We checked out more market stalls and grabbed a lunch of a Red and a Green Curry with rice, water, juice beer...$7.50 in a Cambodian open air restaurant/cafe. Just returned to The Mandalay (AWESOME Hotel!- check tripadvisor - just £8.20 a night double/aircon/fan/shower room!!! - Staff friendly and professional) and grabbed a cooling shower, later..... who knows.... Angkor Wat tomorrow - cannot wait....
