Rome is crazy! I can't imagine driving on these streets. Everyone drives like aggressive LA drivers on steroids and all the streets are narrow and full of pedestrians. Add the motorcycles that drive like they rule the road and you have Rome.
But it's a beautiful city!
Today, our day started off bright and early with a "behind the scenes" tour of the colosseum. This was a special tour where we were taken underground and up to the very top. I highly recommend this tour!!! Both Kevin and I were so excited about it going in and blown away coming out of it.
After the Colosseum we made our way over to Palatine Hill followed by the forum which were also really epic and amazing.
We had lunch and each ordered... Pizza. I'll be honest, the pizza was not great. Although we were warned by everyone who had been to Rome, I think we just had to find out for ourselves.
After lunch was a nice walk over to Bocca della verita, aka the mouth of truth. Yes, I got to act out an iconic Audrey Hepburn scene from "Roman Holiday" (well, by act out, I mean photo opp).
Then, what else? More walking and sight seeing including: Capitoline Hill, Via S. Pierto in Carcere, the Pantheon, S. Ignazio do Loyala (which was BEAUTIFUL!!), plus the Arco de Tito and Arco di Constantino.
We came back to the room to rest our poor feet for a bit, but are heading off for a nice steak dinner.
Tomorrow is another jam packed day, but one I've been looking forward to for a while.
Have a good evening everyone!
