I sit at Dublin airport, waiting to board our flight back to the states. What a trip we have had!
Our first day in Dublin, we toured the Dublin castle and got a quick look around at some if the original parts of the castle. After that, we strolled over to the Guinness storehouse for a tour and tasting. It was a lot of fun, but I have to admit that I liked the Heineken experience better.
After Guinness we walked around our area. We were staying in Temple Bar, which is right in the heart of the beast. So it made it fun to stroll around because all the bars and restaurants had live music. We chose a place and had a bite to eat. The did a mini pub crawl. Unfortunately at our last stop for the evening, my scarf had fallen off (brand new royal blue scarf). We asked if it had been turned in, but no one had. I was super bummed, but what are you go an do. We went back to the room and called it a night.
The next day (Friday) we decided to just walk around and take in Dublin before we went over to the old Jameson Distillery.
We went to St. Patrick's cathedral and the Millennium spire. Dublin is not that big, so we were at Jameson before we knew it.
The tour was a little hokey, but the whiskey tasting was really fun.
After Jameson we went by the bar I lost my scarf at to see if anyone ever turned it in. And, lucky me... they did!!!
For my last meal in Dublin (and Europe) I had corned beef and cabbage, and it was the best meal of the entire trip in my opinion.
It was a little rough getting going this morning, especially with the knowledge that the trip was over. The impending 7.5 hour flight and 5 hour layover before another 4.5 hour flight.
It's sad to leave, but I'm excited to get home.
Next entry I make, we will be in the states!
