Lady Justice Has Her Station, her face to the castle and her ass to the nation-- Irish Rhyme
Dublin, Ireland
We have arrived at our final destination on our incredible and, honestly, life changing journey. I can't believe we are here.
On our last day in London we explored the Tower of London which included the Crown Jewels. (It's good to be the queen!)
Then we walked all the way from the east end to the west end of London and even humored the Musical Geek in me by walking down Fleet Street on the way (in case you are unfamiliar, Fleet Street is where Sweeny Todd has his barber shop. For the record, looks nothing like in the movie).
We spent the rest of the evening over at the west end and just getting lost in London before it was time to head back to our hotel. We were supposed to do what I call a "mini pack" (everything other than toiletries, what you are wearing tomorrow and currently wearing), but we were both exhausted so we went to bed instead.
We probably should have just done the mini pack....
I mentioned before our shower was a little touchy. By that, I mean, extremely temperamental and it takes 15 minutes to finally get the temperature correct. Well, this was a problem at 5:45 this morning for me. I never got it right, I just showered in scolding hot water. When I was finished, I woke Kevin up, around 6:15. It took him 10 minutes at least to get the shower right. But because of this, an the fa t that we did not do our mini pack, we were 20 minutes late leaving our hotel to catch the train that was to take us to Gatwick airport. We "put foot to ground" as Kevin would say and hurried our little butts over to the train station. We just made it (thank god we bought those tickets our second day in London, otherwise, we wouldn't have made it, and would not have made our flight).
Upon arriving at the airport, we decided to check only my bag because it cost £12 per bag to check. But of course, we missed one liquid item that needed to go into my bag, and due to time, Kevin had to part with his face wash. Also, because this is just our luck, I got randomly selected for an extra security Check. Finally, when all the complications seemed finished, when we arrived at our gate, the staff informed Kevin that there was not enough room on the air craft, and they were going to need to check his bag. Go figure. Really, the airport won the battle (taking 1 casualty, Kevin's face wash) but we won the war (saved ourselves £12 to check his bag).
Everything after was smooth sailing. Quick flight, easy transport to the hotel and we are in our nicest hotel yet. Biggest room, our own private giant bathroom, and a lift!!! It's nice to have the last hotel be the best one, and so far of what I've seen, Dublin is beautiful.
Granted, I haven't seen too much yet. In fact, we are about to go on a tour of Dublin Castle as I am updating. This mornings breakfast in a nearby cafe and the walk to Dublin Castle, I can't help but think, "God, my mom would just love it here!" It's so quaint and charming. I'm beginning to worry that we did not plan enough time here. But, we shall see what the last couple of days have in store for us. Maybe when Mom makes her trip, I can be her +1!!!
