Well today was officially my first day of work, depite having helped out last week, Annapurna Primary School was a challenge in itself. Just Georgia and I took on the challenge of delivering lessons to these children, and with little or even no input from the teachers, we are both actually quite proud of how it went.
I had been suffering from a random severe bout of Homesickness, so going into the school today was not something I was looking forward too. But we started the day with a bout of numbers, 1-100 actually, although we really only wanted to do upto 50 but once you get started you can't stop, and with that it led onto addition, which actually really got them focused. Although I am already incredibly tired of hearing SIR SIR! Grrr.
The next activity revolved around English, getting them to tune out Monday-Sunday in a Rhythm which sort of worked, and then deciding to base each leasson on a letter, today being A and trying to create some kind of association with the Letter. A few needed prompts, but one girl came up with Ankle on her own, which for creativity was amazing!
An added bonus was creative time, where we were just saying draw whatever you want, no prompts nothing use your imagination and it didn't go that bad. We got houses and self portraits and random stuff which was pretty awesome. I guess they really do have an imagination.
What was disappointing was that we thought the teachers would carry on when we left, but no, it was just shut the doors and leave so hmmm. Who knows what they actually teach.
