Mutare to Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe
Another impressive early start and off we go. R & A are driving in turns so we set off with A driving. We have been warned about traffic police and sure enough it's not long before we are politely pulled over A fined US$20 for overtaking on double white lines! The truck we had passed had indicated all clear - but still he is in the wrong. Paid up and off we go. Blow me down if 4.5 mins later the same thing happens again.
Talk about actively supporting the local economy. However it's all documented & receipted.
Onwards we head towards Harare as we want to have a look at the city & get a few supplies. The town is quiet as its a public holiday but we were able to get a 'buddi' card ( sim & data card). The countryside has changed from lovely hills & greenery to the more dry mopane trees stretching for miles. After checking into The Secret Garden accommodation we headed to the Chinhoyi caves. These caves are very popular and quite impressive. We had a quiet evening & early to bed to prep for our next adventure, canoeing on the Zambezi River.
