Ponta Do Ouro, Mozambique
Awoke to the sound of waves crashing on the beach, sunshine and 23 degrees. We did our 6 km walk up and down the gorgeous golden beach accompanied by ' our dogs' before strolling down the Main Street in search of Pau - the local bread & Vodacom top up. You need to have a 4x4 for the Main Street too!!
People don't have much but are neat, tidy & clean and the stalls sell beer, chili sauce, fruit & veggies. No touting or hustling which was wonderful, just smiles & hellos. We got tempted by a quirky bar so indulged in the local beer 'doucheM' & watched the world go by. Bought some local sauce to go with our avo lunch, found the Vodacom outlet & back to unit for lunch. After last nights fiery addition to my prawns I tested the sauce and oh yes, it lived up to its expectations so a judicious amount was applied.
A chilled afternoon, another walk and back to prepare for tomorrow as we have a 7am planned start. We have decided to take Shandy with us to Maputo ( he was going anyway leaving at 4am) and all reports say the road or (spiderweb of roads rather - look on google earth / terrain) to see what I mean, is terrible and a local guide/person to smooth the way would be good.
All done & into the resort restaurant for prawns again !! ** interesting for us side note, a ' school group' of around 20 kids also were in residence .. We think from USA ..and after an outing somewhere they arrived back in full force, we were asked if we minded young loud music, of course we said no :) so it was party central. We were encouraged to take our drinks back to our unit which we did and so here I am blogging away :)
I will also note that resort rules are no party noise after 10pm and as I write at 10.15pm the music had died.
