Hey guys
So I arrived in Perth on Saturday & I haven't stopped grinning since! I was like a kid on xmas eve as we made our descent down into Perth. I was literally bouncing up and down in my seat with excitment!!
I was shocked to see sniffer dogs checking out people's bags as we waited for our main luggage off the conveyor belts! 1 dog sniffed a banana out of some guys bag and he got a right telling off as you have to declare literally everything over here, including food!! I hadn't done any washing for over a week and I was panicing the dog might have sniffed out my undies or something! ;-)
Anyway, Kelly (who I met on the last trip, Thailand-Singapore) kindly picked me up from the airport as she lives in Perth & got back the day before! It was lovely to see a friendly face.
From the airport we went to my hostel, which is lovely. The first one I stayed in was soooo basic compared to this one, so the culture shock is over. So I literally checked in, got showered and we went to pick up some booze and food for a barbeque at Cam's house (Kell's boyfriend).
I Was quite disappointed at the lack of shrimps on the barbie, although there was squid!! Gross!
The guys all thought it really odd that I call tomato sauce Ketchup & I lost count of the times they say 'ey at the end of each sentence!! It really makes me laugh ey!! ;-)
We went to a club about 11 & check it out I got asked for ID!! Well we all did actually! Apparently they're really strict out here & you need ID to get into pretty much anywhere regardless of whether you're over 18!!
All of Cam & Kell's mates were really lovely, one in particular, called Tom! I won't go into details but lets put it this way, I didn't go back to my hostel that night!
The next day we all hit Burger King (or Hungary Jacks) as its called over here for breakie and then went to Scarborough beach. OMG, the sea was sooooooooo blue!! We had a few beers (I love that they take beer to the beach over here!) & the boys had a swim!! The waves were massive & you know what I'm like
with water! A right scardy cat! But Tom held my hand whilst I had a quick wee (Nice!) in the sea (or ocean as they call it out here!) & lifted me up when there were big waves!! We hit Nandos's for dinner & then I came back to my hostel. I got chatting with my room mates and had an early night.
Today I have begun the crunchy nut cornflake diet, I've had a bowl for lunch & dinner...I put money on this diet lasting 2 days if that!!! But I've done nothing but eat & drink beer for the past month and it shows!!!!
Its been nice having a chill out day, I've done 2 lots of washing, walked into the city centre and mooched around the shops & have been in a travel agents for 2 hours trying to plan stuff to do for the next few days.
I've made the decision to go to Ayers Rock afterall, as rather than flying to
Alice Springs and then back to Perth I can fly to Alice Springs & then from there go straight to Sydney.
I'm also going to do a wine tasting & chocolate tour and go to Pinnacles.
Jonny & Edd (who I also met on the last tour) have arrived in Perth today so hoping to catch up with them at some point too.
I've tried uploading some photos but it's taking bloody ages so bear with me!!
Hope you're all well. Take care, love Shell xXx
