We arrived in Shanghai and took a taxi to our hotel, where we had a short nap. After 24 hours of travelling on planes we needed it!
In the early evening we met our new group, there are four of us doing this tour - half the size of our India group but it's nice and intimate. One of the girls had not arrived by the time we had our meeting but she was on her way so the rest of us headed out for dinner - I had a mouth watering tofu dish which I'm sure I'll dream of for days!
After a beer me and Jess decided to take a walk around Shanghai. My first impression was that it was normal, by that I mean more like home. On complete opposite ends of the scale to India. They have shops here! It's very bright with lots of lights - abit like Piccadilly Circus. We went down to the Bund where a river separates old colonial Shanghai from the new futuristic Shanghai with buildings of all different shapes flashing coloured lights, even the boats are covered in neon lights. It's a great place!
After strolling back to the hotel it was time for sleep.
