I didn't sleep all that well last night because of the copious amount of red bull i consumed. So we all got up at 9am because we had to pack for our road trip to San Diego. We'd planned on leaving early but we were all hung over and needed food so we walked to a traditional American dinner and ate hamburgers and fries. Ravinder wanted to stop off at Rodeo Drive on the way to buy some Gucci shoes she'd seen so we went back to the hostel and picked up the car and off we went. So our first stop was Rodeo drive and we decided to park in an underground car park which turned out to have valet parking. The car park was the most impressive car park ever it had a chandelier and our little Toyota Corolla looked out of place amongst the Bentleys and Mercs. The shoes Ravinder wanted to buy were made from Ostrich skin and they were stunning but 740 dollars!! I tried a pair of gold and black ones on but they were that high and thin they killed my hoof and i couldn't get it off again after. Whilst we were in their a man and his wife came in and the man was showing his wife shoes but she hated them all. Ravinder was trying to whisper to us who he was and apparently it was Ed Hardy a famous fashion designer. None of us had a clue who he was but he was cool to see i guess. As we were walking out of the shop this french bloke, who looked like he had to much botox/collagen put into his lips, started talking to Elodie and he turned out to be Ed's body guard and before we knew it we were talking to Ed and having our photo taken with him. He was so sexy for an old guy!
It was now 3pm and we still hadn't left for San Diego but once we set off the traffic was fine. The other side of the freeway was bumper to bumper and we were so glad we weren't caught up in that! The journey should take us 2.5 hrs so we decided to stop along the way to see the sea and it was gorgeous and we were free of the city. On he way we saw the scariest thing ever, a man who was wearing a bandana, was driving his car holding a big gun and we s*** ourselves and put our foot down it was very scary!
We decided to stay in a hostel near the beach so we rang them for directions and we got their just as the sun was setting..it was beautiful. The hostel, however, wasn't but as we'd paid they said they wouldn't give us a refund! The dorm we were meant to be staying in had 14 beds and was filthy. The bathroom had mould and was that small when sat on the toilet the sink hit your knees. We decided we couldn't stay so i went and complained and asked for our money back. I told the man that the hostel wasn't for us and that we needed comfort as we were old ladies and thank god he gave us our money back but i think i scared him more than anything. It was now dark and we still needed to find somewhere to stay. I starter driving (along the wrong side of the road...i forgot) and along the main road in Mission beach we found a motel that looked a lot nicer. It turned out to be cheaper for all 4 of us to share a family room than to stay in the hostel...it was crazy. the room was gorgeous, it had a Tv, Fridge and microwave so what more did we need. We dropped all our bags off and all excited we went to McDonalds for dinner. I had an Asian crispy salad and it was gorgeous. The selection of food they have over here in McDonalds is amazing and much better that at home.
The rest of the evening we spent pampering ourselves and watching trashy American TV. It was bliss and put an end to the most amazing week ever.
