Hi everyone. I'm in Kovalam in Kerala at the moment. We are on our 10 day holiday with a bit of sun, sea and sand! (-and rain actually!) It's very hot here, but also very humid so we've been getting a thunderstorm every day. One fo the most liberating things I've done so far has been swimming in the sea and the rain and jogging on the beach in the morning. I've also been having a fruit picnic on the beach every day and getting to know a lot of really nice Indian people. They've taught me to say "how are you?" in a Kerala language I still can't pronounce and I've taught them to say "Samantha". So it's nice to hear "Samantha, how are you?" every time I walk to the beach! Indian people can be so friendly. Our hotel is beautiful. It consists of several bamboo huts set in a palm tree jungle. I'm scared one day I'll get knocked down by a cocnut when I leave my room! There are lots and lots of nice things to buy here so I'm trying not to spend too much money. I've been paddling in the sea, but I'm not brave enough to go deep enough to swim where the waves are pretty high and the tide strong! I'm enjoying the company of the other IGs -particualrly Beth (this time the Canadian one) who I'm sharing a room with here -we've been praying together and reading the Bible together, which has been really helpful as I've been a bit upset by some of the bad ideas some people have here of western women -lots of mixed messages with it being such a tourist spot, and my ezcema has also got really bad in the heat.
