Left the hostel at 10 had some breakfast beforehand, packed our stuff into our small backpacks as our big backpacks were heading to Inle Lake. Zak met us early he got the night bus from Bagan to Kalaw so we had everyone ready to go and a lady from Oz Melissa was with us too. Laura will be joining us tomorrow as she is only doing 2 days not 3 trekking she is coming with Azem who was with us in Bagan. So we walked to A1 Trekking met our tour guide Yelin seemed a bit of a legend so we were happy with that. 23km walk today to a homestay with the locals, started off with a few hills and the views were just a post card image everywhere. Amazing scenery! Stopped for lunch at half 12 on top of this mountain where the view was incredible. Food was the boy as well we had a chef with us on route the whole time cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner for us. Started raining around 3 which was a nightmare for us but for me especially as I didn't have hiking shoes I had my white Lyle and Scott trainers for it all haha! Found a football volleyball court so stopped and had a game there with the local kids and then made our way onto a train track which seemed to go on forever. Walked past a train station where some what seemed like 12-15 year old students were waiting for the train to go home. Bas had a go on the skipping rope with 2 guys at the end of this long rope with Bas the 9 foot giant jumping and doing well to be fair looked real funny watching it all! Made it to our home stay in this little village and made ourselves at home, walked to a local shop to get some whiskey and supplies couldn't drink as still on antibiotics. Got a guitar given to me as well for a loan even though no one could play guitar but never mind! Few card games and then we went to bed, bed was on a raised floor all beds in a row. Toilet was in a old shed, squatting toilet also and the shower was a bucket. Amazing to see how the locals live I couldn't bear going for a piss due to the smell. Makes you seriously think how lucky we are back at home and not complain about the smallest of things!
