King of the Smoker

I know this is supposed to be the blog about my travels in Spain but I couldn't pass up writing a post about this unbelievable competition. Steph and I arrived to the La Quinta Resort yesterday and have been living a dream ever since. The grounds are astonishing, the staff is amazing, and our casita is warm and relaxing (soaking tub included). But these are not the things that make this comp unbelievable.

What makes it so is the desire of Sterling Ball to give each team the competition experience of a lifetime. As I write this post his crew are out delivering teams' smokers, setting up cooking stations, and making sure every other detail is in order so all we have to do is cook delicious award winning meat. Did I mention that the meat is provided?!?! Who does that...Sterling of course. Our cooking station is set up 30ft from our casita, making the idea of a 3:30am wake up call a bit more bearable.

We are getting anxious now as we wait for our smokers to arrive but we are feeling so very honored to have been selected to compete in this invite only event. More to come...
