Salzburg to home
Well this doesn't bode well. Had about an hours Kip and don't seem to be able to sleep anymore. Partly due to being uncomfy and partly to sunburn. Now I have to sit and listen to a 1980s throwback german steve guttenburg (who really should have gone to specsavers) talking about god knows what!!
All German men appear to think that the mustache will make a huge comeback in 2011. Sorry to disappoint you guys but it won't.
I tell you what. The night train is full of weirdos. One guy in front of us has now started talking to himself, quoting random numbers. Oh wait a minute he's on the phone. Who, might I ask, is he on the phone to at 3.46am!! And as for the guy eating a dry baguette at this time....oh, hang on that's shaky!
Well we haven't been much company for each other on this trip due to either one or both of us being asleep. Started off so promising as well with us playing pop song charades on the train out of Salzburg. Just an hour out of Montabaur now where we have an half hour wait for our connection to Brussels where breakfast and the Eurostar home awaits us. Hopefully the weather is better than in Frankfurt where you couldn't see a lot on the way in due to the low cloud cover and mist. Very cold looking.
Going to try and get a bit more sleep on the next leg up to Brussels and I shouldn't be too bad for the last leg then.
At Montabaur and the train is 30 minutes late. There is one very disgruntled woman on the platform who is not happy at all. She keeps huffing and puffing and checking her phone as if it will miraculously make the train arrive on time. Don't mind the wait really the suns up and it's a nice morning now and every so often one of the ICE trains shoots through the station and my god do those things shift.
Oh dear the destination board has changed and our train is no longer up there and with no other screens in the station we don't know if our train still goes from here, maybe a last minute dash to another platform.
Now 45 minutes late and still no train, one has been in but when I asked the guard if it was going to Brussels I got the reply "Brussels?" not the reassuring answer I was looking for.
Train finally arrived 50 minutes late and the reason for the delay was..........in German, so still haven't got a clue. Only just got on the train before doors shut due to Sanjeet and Ranjeet and their 3000 cases being in front of us on the platform.
Well I think it's safe to say we are both well and truly knackered. Nearly at Brussels now and looking forward to something to eat and getting away from the guy at the side of us - we shall cal him monsieur sniffy - tippy tapping on his laptop and choosing not to blow his nose. Fi's sunburn is hurting a bit now the poor love and her arm is giving her some pain but a nice bath when we get home should soothe that for her a bit.
Not going to be many pictures of Germany or Belgium on here due to us flying through them and a lot of the time in the dark. But that can be saved for another blog.
Arrived a Brussels Midi 57 minutes late but still got time to grab something to eat before check in at Eurostar. Brussels Midi is one huge place which is great for shopping an eating but why are the toilets always at the opposite end to where you are?
Just left Lille and the weather is not looking too good it's very foggy and grey hope back homes a little better only got our shorts on and a t-shirt. was thinking of spending a bit of time in London before home but think we will knock that on the head, just want to get home and recover and relax.
Well back in England and running 15 minutes late, not too bad. We finally have our networks and our 3G back which is why this entry of the blog has now been uploaded.
Transport count up till now.

11 buses
