And it begins!! It just goes to show how bad the uk is.
Just one big delay in 26 trains and then we try an east coast home. Announcement made in the station to say that they are still titivating the train so we can't board. Then the platform us released and like 1000s of take that fans clambering to get a bit of Robbie, there's an almighty surge towards the train. Old woman and suits are wheeling their cases like they are racing the the lead at the Monaco grand prix.
Found a seat that wasn't reserved and got the bags sorted. "shaky there's no plug for me to charge our phones". Panic spread across his face. He left me in charge of the now not so desirable seats. He managed to get a kind older gentleman with a "paid for Thai bride" to Bagsy us a seat.
We set off and remarkably on time. Just 100 yards from the end of the platform, the emergency brake flies into action sending most people at least one seat further towards the front of the train. An irate, and slightly moody Marcus, the train guard goes galloping down the aisle looking for the culprit.
"HOW I GET OFF?" a rather panic stricken foreign gentleman started asking Marcus. Well, considering me n the shakes have travelled through countries that have no rail safety laws, my first thought was "down the track mate" but I don't think that was the answer Marcus gave the man.
Some 14 minutes now late and we eventually get under way, just in time for us to get to Leeds for rush hour. Oh the joys!!
