Oh Sam , you poor things! Emily with the illness - do you know what it is yet -and you having to watch her endure it all again. I'm hoping she's feeling much better by the time you read this and it's thumbs up and and good news. I've been away until this evening taking the cats to Allyson's. Journey wasn't as bad as I thought as we hit on the fact that they both found Classic FM really soothing . That coupled with regular sprays of Catnip into the air above their baskets seemed to do the trick. They both fell asleep and didn't cry at all after that! Please keep us up to date . We're flying out to New York on Monday so won't be able to access any news until we fly down to Myrtle Beach on Thursday a few days later. I'll keep checking until I leave. Staying at Tom's 'Urban Cottage' this weekend so can check from there before we leave. Give her all my love - you too Sam- and big hopeful wishes for a speedy recovery.

No news of any significance... I went back to the medical centre today where I was prescribed yet another drug to add to Emily´s ever increasing list... She is stable and resting though so hopefully given a few days she´ll be up and running again!!!!

Also no lectures please on what we should be doing... She has just been so unlucky! I should be the one in bed with my lackluster approach to all the food, not her!

Hi there everyone. I´ve just read through a whole load more of your lovely messages! Please keep them coming as they are bringing us a continuous stream of Love and Happiness from home!!
Having just informed you of how relaxed it is to be here, I am now at pains to say that Salmonellas ugly head has once again reared itself(at least thats what we think it is). Emily started feeling off colour 2 days ago which turned into a fever early yesterday morning. We called the medics and the poor thing had to suffer her fourth drip of our travells!!!! No huge alarm bells though as she seems to be recovering quickly. It´s sad to say but I think she´s getting pretty good at it (recovering from aweful foreign bugs).... Hopefully the next you hear from us will be from Emily in the form of her compelling blog!!!
Once again, thankyou for all the messages. I will try and get back online later for a quick update!! I know what you mothers are like....
All my Love Sam xxx
PS. Photos are really hard at the mo as the connection speed is slow and costly. I will be on the case as soon as possible.

Hey Ems,
Loving the blog - reminds me of Bill Bryson's stuff - really honest and engaging.
Hopefully I'll end up travelling in some capacity. This summer's been fairly chilled so far. Went up to Manchester to watch our college in the 2nd round of Uni Challenge. Three of the team members are friends of mine, so it was quite exciting, and they're in the quarter-finals now...so proud :D
Met up with a couple of Oxford friends in London yesterday. One of them just belongs in the 1930s, and is never seen out of tweed, so we got a few funny looks on the tube...but it was good fun. We did the Eye, the BM, and went for tea at Fortnum & Mason's.
Better get back to the books though...my vacation reading list is like the length of my body... Ooh, I got results though - Mum might've told you, I was 1 mark off a 2:1. Kind of annoying, but 1st year doesn't count, so I was just happy to pass.
Lots of love,
Lauren xx

Just read your most recent blog - it all sounds so idyllic. Very jealous of your currently gentle pace of life. I'm surprised you've only overrun it by 4 days - how about making it an extra couple of weeks, if you're enjoying it so much?!
Weather here is very humid at the moment and very hot...well, hot for us, that is. Due to break by the weekend, however.
Nana and Grandad are due back from Lake Garda this evening. Sounds like they've had a good time. Our BBQ with your dad went well, despite the blustery, rainy weather, and we've just about recovered from another BBQ (equally breezy) with Nigel and his family.
Lauren and I went to see Mamma Mia last week - absolutely loved it. Meryl Streep is just wonderful in it. Rory's signed for a local men's football team, and is finding the training quite challenging, but is enjoying it.
We're off to Menorca for 2 weeks time. We return on a Friday, and Rory starts the 6th form the following Wednesday, which is a bit tight, but it's not like we have to buy any uniform.
It's Nana and Grandad's Wedding Anniversary next week. Can't believe it's four years since we all shared in their Golden celebrations at your dad's.
Having difficulty at the moment booking a place for my 50th - can't get the dates we want, so we're having to play around with them a bit. Hope to get something sorted soon. Can't think of anything else to say, or at least anything of great interest! So will sign off now. Look after yourselves, and hope the rest of your trip matches up to what you've experienced so far.
All our love,
Helen, Jim, Lauren & Rory xx

Thanks for the news Ems. Sounds like a wonderful place. So glad you are having such an exciting trip. We need some more pix ! We're off to Salavas on Friday so will be out of touch for a while (no wi-fi there!). Tom is joining us for a week with a couple of girl friends and travelling down on the train to Avignon. So should be a good laugh. Hoping for some decent weather. Keep safe, Love to you both. Dad x
