On friday after being messed around yet again, we still have no passport and as the embassy shut at 12 on the friday (s***ty embassy!!!!) we decided to go to Kampot for the weekend.
The bus journey was by far the bumpiest we've experienced so far and we also saw our first bike accident. Some woman lost control of her bike that was coming the opposite way and she sled to the floor. Was so horrible 2 see and were all shocked but the bus driver didn't even flinch- never mind stop!
Stayed at Last guesthouse, managed 2 get a big room with 3 beds!! (yey) and for only $5! :D little did we know it was ant and mosquito infested. Ferg did surprising well.. and managed to deal with those pesky ants :D
Saturday we had an IMMENSE day. Went trekking in the jungle round the bokor national park. Overall a REALLY funny day. Our guide was the hotel owner (Mr Mot) and after trekking 2 hours (and getting lost several times) to what we thought was going to be a massive waterfall, our "guide" took us to a pool of cloudy water- and then announced that there was not enough water to make a waterfall :P It was only when Mr Mot started guzzling rice wine that we realised he was so happy 'cause he was pissed :P
He then served us lunch- heavily undercooked squid and clams that had been carried in the sweltering heat (food poisoning delight-luckily none have us got sick! yey!) cooked over a fire of burnin plastic. Crazy cambodians!
It then started to rain so we sheltered under some trees sharing 2 raincoats between 6 of us whilst playing cards. very fun times :D!
Once we carefully made our way back down the treacherous jungle slope, Mr Mot spotted some wild boar prints and then bgegan sneaking through the bushes looking for the boar (IMMENSELY funny!) The journey back on the back of the pickup was equally eventful- as the back fell off as jessie, emma and oli were sitting on it! luckily the others grabbed saved us from falling onto the road.
To round off an amazing day us and the boys we met on the trek went out for a lovely cheap dinner :D
Got back in phnom penh today. Hopefully passport tomorrow. fingers crossed! :)
