Today started out cloudy and in the low 20s but, after several days of 40+, we welcomed it. Our touring day started with a cruise on the Saint Lucia estuary. Plenty of hippos, a number of crocodiles and lots of birds. After the cruise we spent a few minutes touching our toes in the Indian Ocean. Water is quite warm here, even in their winter.
By noon, we were back to the 30s. We left St. Lucia at 1:00pm heading to the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Park. On the way, craft stands called and we made several stops. This park is quite different from Kruger. It is quite hilly allowing distant viewing of animals. In addition, because it is so dry, the vegetation is stressed and sparse allowing for spotting of animals further afield than would normally be the case. The Park is also much smaller than Kruger and therefore more animals per sq. km. We spotted both White and Black Rhino quickly after entering. Also, spotted plenty of zebra and buffalo, the latter including one herd of about 80 (though at some distance). A new animal for us was the Nyala.
Our accomodation tonight is the Hilltop Camp. Situated on top of one of the highest hills in the park we have excellent views. A new photo album started today entitled KwaZulu Natal, which is the state we are in for the next few days.

Jenny Thank you so much, Lorne, for your very entertaining stories of your travels. You describe everything so well, I can almost smell it! Keep it up -- I am so enjoying riding on your shoulder, as does the Golfer. Heavy rain here has kept him indoors, but he is always hopeful that he can get out onto the course soon. Take care, Jenny
