AUSTRALIA DAY...
ALL ABOARD THE RIVER QUEEN KOOKABRA...
We collected our boarding passes and tickets to climb on board, but had to wait until the Kookabra was ready.
So we waited on the marina, with a bottle of larger and cider, which was ever so expensive seen as though Australian's like to charge an extra 15% service charge, seen as though it's a public holiday! (lets hope that never catches on back home).
We eventually boarded to be greated by the attendents and shown to our table for the evening. Number 48... We quickly joined the que for the bar as it was growing rather quickly. We wanted to have our drinks for when the boat set off... We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to enjoy whilst cruising the Brisbane River and listening to their live band!
As soon as we launched off on the cruise, the Food Buffet was open... and Me and Jen being who we are made it our mission to be the first in line... But the pressure of going first had it's disadvantages... we felt under pressure, having to move around the buffet quickly in order for everyone else to get around too, so instead of taking our time we hurried and got as much as we thought looked acceptable... It was very yummy the food, so as usual when it's a buffet we went up for seconds, only to realise that our eyes were bigger than our tummies!!!
Took our wine to the top deck and found two seats at the back and enjoyed the view, whilst we digested all the food we had eaten in such a short space of time... Snappy snap with our camera's taking in all the beautiful sights...
We popped downstairs to refill our glasses and to check if the desserts had been laid out, only to see fruit still there we were a little disappointed thinking that dessert would have been cakes... But then an attendent told us desserts would be served in about another 15minutes, so we headed back upstairs to wait with big smiles on our faces!
So after another 20minutes on the cruise, an attendent informed us that the desserts were served and that Lamingtons were on the menu... Well our eyes lit up and we hurried downstairs to see what awaited us...
Again our eyes were too big and we had two helping od dessert, but the Brie and biscuits were delicious and I couldn't help myself... Thus feeling very full and sick finishing off the last drops of wine...
After slowly disembarking off the boat, only to be dissapointed that we missed a chance to have our photo taken on the Kookabra... We slowly made it home feeling very full... Lucky that we just made it home in time before the heavens opened and it poured it down for the rest of Australia Day!
