Hi Everyone!
Well Leanna and I just returned from our journey to Halong Bay! It was a long bus ride out there, about 4 hours but totally worth it! We boarded our boat, called the Jolly Roger, and we set sail. The boat sort of looked like the one in the picture, it had a top deck where you could soak up some sun, a middle deck that had a dining room and then the bottom deck was rooms. There were about 35 people on our tour and we had a pretty good group.
The picture on this blog really doesn't do it justice, if you don't know what it looks like I would google Halong Bay so you can see what we saw. It was totally surreal and one of my favorite things we have done to date! It was crazy to look around and realize where you were sitting. I believe that Halong Bay is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, and now I see why! We had gorgeous weather which I think was pretty lucky. The tour had been cancelled the last few days because of the weather!
We sailed for about 2 hours and then docked in this little cove where we swam (Leanna jumped off the top deck!) and then we went out for a kayak to a cave. This is where the day took a bit of a downturn, for me at least. I was trying to help the guide tie up everyon's kayaks and took a tumble on some very slippery and sharp rocks. I cut up the bottom of my foot and then a cut on my hand. Needless to say I didn't go in the cave but Leanna said it was pretty neat.
The first aid kit on the boat left a bit to be desired but I was lucky there was a nurse on the tour so I asked her to look at in the morning, after I tried to clean it out as best i could. She looked at it and said I should go to the hospital because it looked like it was infected....oh great....a hospital in Vietnam! I looked up places to go in Lonely Planet and right near our hostel was an International SOS clinic so we headed there once we got back. It was really nice and not scary at all! I got an english speaking doctor and they cleaned and bandaged me up and wrote me a prescription for anti-biotics. I got a whole "gift" bag full of supplies to last me for the next couple of days. Nurse Leanna assisted me this morning with the rinsing out, with a syringe and iodine. She bandaged me up and it is already looking a lot better. The redness has gone away and walking isn't too bad! I was pretty grumpy the night it happened, so sorry Leanna!
Today is our last day in Vietnam, I think we are both ready to leave Hanoi and move on. It feels like we have been here for a long time! Tomorrow morning we head to the airport and are off to Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. Everyone we have talked to says that they really liked it so I am excited!

P.S. While I am recovering from my injury Leanna is battling an upset stomach, we are falling apart! We thought it was motion sickness but now it seems to bother her even when we are travelling! Today will be restful and hopefully when we wake up tomorrow we will both be feeling better!
