Cute and cuddly tigers :D
Day 43 - 16/11/09 - Chiang Mai (Thailand)
After breakfast and packing our bags, we checked out of the hotel and left our bags with them for the day. The hotel van then took us to Tiger Kingdom where we were having some lunch and going to pat and play with tigers!!
Once we arrived at Tiger Kingdom, we had the hardest decision, as we had to choose the package of what tiger/lion enclosures we wanted to enter. There were new born tigers, small tigers, medium tigers, big tigers, and small lions. We chose new born tigers, small lions and big tigers (with a photographer for big tigers). We were able to take our own cameras into the enclosure with us, but you could also get a photographer if you chose.
First up was 10mins with the 2 new born tigers. They were both females and were only 6 weeks old - very cute and playful. The first one we played with loved to lick Jess and bite Scotty's top, while the other was less playful and seemed to just want to sleep and run under the sink!
We were then off to spend 15mins with 2 male lions who were 9 months old. We met Johnny Depp first, he was the larger more agressive lion and did not really like Jess much, but was ok with Scotty. We then met Benjamin who was suffering injurings from fighting with Johnny Depp. He had a sore ear and walked with a limp, but was much more frendly than Johnny.
Last was 15mins with 3 big female tigers who were 19 months old. We got to lay with our heads resting on one of them, and they were so beautiful. We learnt with both the lions and the big tigers that you need to be quite firm when patting them as they are ticklish and so do not like light touching. Next was lunch at the restaurant right next to the big tigers enclosure.
This was definately the best thing you can do for under $50 each and we wish they had this opportunity for this price closer to home! We would recommend anyone that comes to Thailand to visit Chiang Mai and the Tiger Kingdom!
We went back to hotel and were transferred to new hotel before going for a swim. After dinner, we went to the Night Bazaar market which we can see from our new hotel room.
Day 44 - 17/11/09 - Chiang Mai (Thailand)
Today was a well needed sleep in before a late breakfast and more resting. The rest of the day was spent swimming, by the pool and relxing.
We found ourselves at the Night Bazaar market again tonight - it is very convenient to have a market outisde your window!
Tomorrow we are off to Vietnam... where is the time going?
Take care - Jess & Scotty
