so we left prague with great memories and sore heads. we arrived in krakow late afternoon and checked into our hostel, which is absolutely amazing and only been opened a week.
on the saturday we got on a tour to visit auschwitz and birkenau concentration camps. its really difficult to describe it. we would definately recommend it to anyone, but its a place you only ever visit once.
we took some photos of the barracks and gas chambers, but the exhibition areas banned cameras, so we couldn't photograph inside the buildings.
the whole set up was so meticulously organised and efficient it was horrifying. the exhibition showed the remains of tonnes of jewish hair the germans were using to make linen and suits out of. thousands of pairs of shoes and suitcases, with the names of the owners still on them. but the worst was the blocks where they did experiments on the prisoners and the execution wall, still remarkably in tact!
it was a great tour, but they rushed us around a bit. we could have spent hours more there and would definately recommend going there on your own.
krakow is another lovely city with a busy market square, with plenty of entertainment and stag dos!!
we're heading off to berlin this evening, our second from last city. we've booked our tickets home for the 1st of august, so will look forward to seeing you all very soon
love us xx
