I think I'm allergic to snails! Woke up in the night wheezing and congested, finding it difficult to breathe easily. My allergy pills did nothing, took a Nurofen which at least helped me sleep. No more snails. What a shame - I love them! Late start, breakfast from the local boulangerie. Then off to the Pont du Gard. Got a bit lost, even with the GPS, it had us going all over the place! When we finally got there it was worth it! Not to many people, a short walk to the magnificent bridge. Walked across to the other side and then down to the river. The girls had a ball playing in the river. They saw frogs and little fish and created some structures out of the pebbles. And all the while the Pont in the background. Afterwards some pancakes for lunch with the girls trying a Nutella pancake for dessert. Then off to the on-site museum. A painting display and then a huge exhibition of the making of the Nimes acquaduct. Very good and interesting. A visit to the Musee Bonbon, the confectionery museum on the way back. The girls grained when we said we were visiting a museum until they learnt it was a lolly museum! Got tokens for lolly bags and found more tokens for extra bags. Not a good idea as the kids certainly didn't need the extra sugar rush. A minor diversion through the town on the way back. Very stressful - Mario not at his best driving through congested tiny city streets. Spent the next couple of hours trying to find accommodation for the next 2 hours. Eventually settled on Salone de Provence.
Dinner on site at the chateau. Magnificent setting, they set up a linen table away from the rest of the diners and served an absolutely beautiful and VERY filling meal. The food kept coming and coming. We couldn't get another morsel in.
