Finally had a long lie!
Pancakes for breakfast and then got ready to go rafting. I was the only one from our group going, so waited for the bus on my own. I was supposed to be getting picked up at 11, and waited, and waited, and waited.
Turns out they had 30 people rafting that day, and they'd forgotten about me. Totally raging. Was stuck on my own, and the others had headed to the watering hole about 25 mins walk outside of town, but nobody was there.....
Figured they must have gone to the waterfall 4km away. So stomped off there, 4km uphill, in the midday sun. It was really hot, and horrible, and I was in a really bad mood. Stopped for a fresh coconut milk on the way up the hill in a wee wooden farm by the side of the road, with chickens pecking in the dirt.. It was really nice, the lady and her daughter were just lying in the hammock waiting for people to come by and drink a coconut.
Was about to give up after about an hour and a half of serious uphill struggle, when a wee tourist bus offered me a ride the rest of the way. I've never been so grateful for a lift.
Made it to the top, and realised that Laura and Lewis, and Ashlei and Owen were still in the park. Walked down the 500 uneven steps to the waterfall, and found them there, sitting on a rock. The waterfall was totally stunning, the water was so clear, and you could see loads of fish in it. It was totally freezing, but stuck my feet in to cool them down. Sadly, the guys were about to leave, so decided to go with them, even though I'd just got there.
Started the long walk back up, was so hot and tired I was shaking, and had to practically haul myself back up the 500 steps. Collapsed in a heap at the top, and sat to try and recover.
I was totally dreading the 4km walk down the unpaved hill to the road, but luckily, a flatbed truck offered us a lift on the back. Jumped in, and had a scary ride down the hill, as the driver deliberately speeded up and slowed down to make us scream. Survived intact, if not a little dirty, dusty and bruised, and walked the 25 mins back to town to rebook my rafting for the next day.
