From Mexico Beach to Biluxi MS. Stopped for breakfast at a 90 yr. wooden shack in the woods in the "town" of Bayou La Batre, had some great catfish and thumbed through a few copies of Life magazine from the 1950's. On to Pascagoula - somewhat of a ghost town. Camped in a trailer park just west of Biloxi MS. Still a bunch of FEMA trailers with displaced, unemployed folks mixed in between $300K motor homes and a few tents - like mine. Covered a few miles on Farve Rd. I assume I was in ,or close to, Brett Farve's home town. Not much there but broken down, rusty trailers, and rotting fishing boats in the woods and illegal piles of garbage; again perhaps remnants of Katrina.
On to New Orleans. Found a reasonable Youth Hostel (India House); will hold up here for at least 2 nights. Rode around the city in the pouring rain yesterday, French Quarter, Super Dome, Lower Ninth Ward, a couple above ground cemeteries, Gumbo and Jambalaya. Will see some sights today and head down to Bourbon St. tonight.
