We joined the 'Magic' bus tour to go up north and see the Bay of Islands. We could see why it was nicknamed 'Tragic Magic' as the bus journey was boring- it took twice as long to get there and we couldn't hear the commentary- which meant we didn't know where we were stopping off at along the way, one was in the middle of a huge forest- but we missed the famous tree which was over a thousnad years old as we didn't know it was there! There was also a pointless stop-off where we watched a black and white film of a dolphin- hmmm...
We planned to just stay one night but as we didn't get to Paihia 'til late we stayed an extra night so we could actually do stuff there. The first night we met a girl called Zoe who came out with us, we ended up at the 'Salty' bar where we took part in a Limbo competition- but didn't win, surprise, surprise! and then Sarah and Zoe reluctantly entered a Blind Date competition! after answering loads of stupid questions (the guy was Scottish so they were all about kilts and the Loch Ness monster!) we both won parasailing tickets so it was all worth it!
So the next day that's what we all did, the views over the Bay of Islands were amazing and it was much more relaxing than our previous jumping escapades! We then hung around, enjoying the sun and Hokey Pokey ice creams. We spent that night at the Lighthouse bar, enjoying free beer and cocktails all night as it was Ladies Night!
Zoe saved us from enduring another ride on the Tragic bus, as she had hired a car, so she drove us back down to Auckland as that's where she was heading, we went to see Notes on a Scandal that night, which was erm...interesting!
bye for now!
